Meet Faith Dowdy…

Service Project Coordinator

Faith Dowdy is a native Texan married to a native Roanoker, Aaron Dowdy.  They have 5 children: Silas, Eliza, Jesse, Naomi and Oswald and have been on the homeschool adventure now for 6 years.  Faith has enjoyed theater since her first introduction to it in high school one-act plays.  She joined a theater company at the Hippodrome Theater in Waco, TX her senior year of high school and proceeded to study theater her first year of college under award winning teachers at McLennan Community College.  During this time, she determined to follow Jesus with her life and sought out an internship in Philadelphia to be discipled by an inner-city missionary.  After this internship, Faith took a break from college and moved to Pennsylvania where, by God’s grace, she worked at a Christian theater called Sight and Sound Inc. for two years. While there, Faith worked at building sets, sewing/painting props, and ushering.  Upon her return to Texas, she studied Theater for one more year at Baylor University before switching to and completing her Undergraduate Degree in International Studies.  Since then their family worked in Central Asia for several years on a community development project before returning to settle in Roanoke 9 years ago.  She and her husband are now members of Grace Church and work together at Friendship House Roanoke, Inc., a non-profit community mission center in Old Southwest. They share a passion for loving their neighbors through mercy ministries and relational evangelism while connecting them to local church families.  Two years ago, she taught Theater Appreciation at The Road Less Traveled Academy.  Faith enjoys hiking, kayaking, making her kids laugh, studying Biblical Hebrew and trying to talk her husband into getting pet birds.  She is thrilled for the opportunity to dive back into involvement with theater arts and share her passion with the students this year!
