Meet Jodi Clingenpeel…

Rhetoric Math Teacher

A native of Pennsylvania, Jodi has lived in Roanoke since 1992 with her husband, Tim, a Roanoke native, where they have raised their three boys Jordan (wife Bethany), Jason and Justin.  Jodi and Tim met in-between their junior and senior years of high school while on a summer mission trip.  They are active members of the SW Campus of Fellowship Community Church where Jodi leads Kids Life worship and serves in the nursery.

Jodi graduated from Grace College (Winona Lake, IN) with a BS in Secondary Math Education and a minor in Communications.  She taught math at Hidden Valley Middle School for 5 years then left the professional workforce to raise her three boys, manage the household and provide private math tutoring for the next 11 years.  Once their youngest was school age she became an Adjunct Professor at Virginia Western Community College teaching various Developmental Math courses.  She also has worked for Roanoke County Public Schools as a Math Remediation Specialist for the past 7 years.  She has served on several textbook adoption committees both as a teaching professional and as a parent representative.

Jodi's unique college teaching experience has allowed her to work with students from a variety of backgrounds including public school, homeschool as well as older adults returning to the classroom.  This has given her insight into different learning styles and study habits and helps her to know how to address each student's individual needs.
