Meet Joyce Rice…

Rhetoric Science Teacher

Joyce attended Wheaton College (IL), where she earned a B.S. in physics and a M.A. in Theology.  She grew up in the Chicago suburbs, where she had the most amazing high school physics teacher!

Joyce brings a wealth of teaching experience both in the classroom and through private tutoring.  She has taught college physics in Indiana, middle school math in San Francisco, and dozens of private tutoring students all around the country.  Joyce loves cultivating the virtues of curiosity, humility, diligence, and perseverance in her students.  She loves growing their confidence in their ability to reason mathematically and investigate the world.  Joyce is excited to build the physics program at Cornerstone and is looking forward to many moments of wonder and joy in the classroom.

Joyce is married to Brian, who is a software engineer and former college math professor. A total nerd, Brian consistently challenges Joyce to continue learning new math. Together, they attend St. Ambrose Orthodox Church, where they sing in the choir and Joyce volunteers in the children’s ministry. At home, Joyce likes to garden, read, knit, and run. She loves playing silly games with neighborhood children and admiring their artistic and athletic achievements.
